About Us
Visit the Yoruk Collection located in a historic, renovated library in the heart of Istanbul's historic district.
Dating from circa 1780, the building is thought to be the first private library established in Istanbul, and was built by the chief of the Sahaflar, the famous book market which can still be found operating just outside the Grand Bazaar. The graves of the family which built the library can be found in the small, peaceful walled garden next to it.
For 40 years (and more to come) The Akbayrak family has continued the family tradition of housing collections in this historic building, renovating, restoring, and repurposing it as a boutique and showroom for their own collections. Stocked exclusively with handmade carpets, textiles, jewelry, and antiques, the shop's knowledgeable staff is happy to answer questions or allow you to browse quietly on your own.
Stop by for a drink, to browse, or simply to admire the architecture and light of this lovely space.
